The Australian Business Deans Council Journal Quality List, ranking business-discipline journals into A*, A, B and C tiers; widely used by Indian business schools.
The ABDC Journal Quality List, maintained by the Australian Business Deans Council, ranks journals in business and management into four tiers: A* for the leading journals in a field, A for highly regarded outlets, B for well-regarded ones, and C for recognised journals meeting a quality threshold.
It is widely used in business schools across Australia, India and parts of Asia to assess research quality for recruitment, promotion and doctoral requirements. Because it is discipline-specific and peer-assessed rather than purely citation-driven, it is often considered a fairer guide to standing within business subfields than a raw impact factor.
The list is reviewed periodically, and journals can be upgraded, downgraded or removed, so always check the current edition and the field of research code your journal is listed under. For a doctoral student, targeting a B or C journal for a first paper and reserving A-tier outlets for the strongest chapter is usually the realistic strategy.
